My adventure started with some research. The first thing I realize is that this new sport that I plan to embark on is exspensive. Like all my other hobbies and sports activity that I join, they tend to lean towards the pricey side. For instance, I also enjoy paintball, badminton, football, photography, and golf. All of these hobbies require a good deal of capital to start. I knew the first thing I had to do is look into a more economical way of getting into this sport. I scoured the internet and found my alternative, Vintage! It seems that there is a resurgance of riders that are purchasing vintage steel frame road bikes and updating them with newer parts. An amazing testement to the craftmanship of yester years.
After researching a few things like; fit, make, model, parts, upgrades, etc.. I was able to find a Motobecane Mirage for $100! I went to pick up the bike from the owner who had received the bike as a gift from his manager. The tires were flat and the bike looked tired but not worn. The paint was in amazing condition and all teh moving parts worked. Did I mention little to no rust on any of the bike. Amazing! So after hours of cleaning, degreasing, polishing, and lubing, it was sparkling. I am still waiting on the tubes since I purchase the wrong tubes with different valves.
Here is a couple of shots I took of her this weekend. Enjoy.
